Australia beat India by 7  wickets in a rain-affected first ODI, Marsh and Josh Phillipe batted superbly

IND vs AUS 1st ODI: Mitchell Marsh-led Australia cricket team spoiled Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s return to International cricket after defeating Shubman Gill’s India by 7 wickets in a rain-affected first ODI of the three-match series, which was being played at the Optus Stadium in Perth.  The match was stopped four times due to rain, forcing it to be reduced to 26 overs a side. Australia were set a target of 131 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis method. Australia won the match by scoring 131 for three in 21.1 overs, thanks to a brilliant innings from captain Mitchell Marsh.

 Marsh-led Australia cricket team defeated  India by 7 wickets in a rain-affected first ODI of the 3-match series, which was being played at the Optus Stadium in Perth. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were making their much-awaited return in International cricket but  they got out after scoring 8 and 0, respectively. The match was reduced to 26 overs due to rain playing spoil sport. The Men in blue posted 136 runs with the help of good cameo knocks from KL Rahul (38 off 31), Axar Patel (31 off 38 balls), and Nitish Kumar Reddy (19 off 11 balls). As for the hosts, Josh Hazlewood, Matthew Kunemann, and Mitchell Owen took two wickets each, whereas Mitchell Starc and Nathan Ellis settled with one each.


In reply Aussies chased it down in just 21.1 overs with 7 wickets remaining in hand. Arshdeep Singh did remove dangerous Travis Head (8 off 5 balls) in the second over itself but skipper Mitchell Marsh’s unbeaten 46 along with Josh Philippe’s 37 and Matt Renshaw’s 21 took their team over the line. Arshdeep, Axar Patel, and Washington Sundar took 1 wicket each in the losing cause.
