Lucknow: Prior to the Indian Premier League match between the Lucknow Super Giants and the Gujarat Titans at Ekana Stadium, the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Santosh Suri ji—a Senior sports journalist from Lucknow and the former Sports Editor of Times of India news paper, Lucknow edition. Santosh Suri passed away on April 4th following a cardiac arrest.

At a condolence gathering conducted at the Media Centre of Ekana Stadium, BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla reflected on Suri’s significant contributions to sports journalism, characterizing him as an “irreparable loss” to the community—a journalist whose coverage provided a fresh identity to cricket in Uttar Pradesh.

While offering his tributes, BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla suggested that a compilation of the excellent news reports published by Mr. Santosh Suri be prepared, which the UPCA would then publish. He noted that this initiative would serve to keep his memory alive. Representatives of the UPCA stated that Santosh Suri’s contributions were not limited merely to reporting; he also played a pivotal role in the development and popularization of cricket within Uttar Pradesh. His writing, in particular, was instrumental in helping many of the state’s budding cricketers gain recognition.

On this occasion, numerous prominent figures from the sports world, UPCA office-bearers, and a large number of journalists gathered to pay their heartfelt tributes to the departed journalist.
Among those present were Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) Secretary Prem Manohar Gupta, Media Manager Mohammed Faheem ji (along with his assistants Shreyash Sharma and Gopal), as well as sports journalists Sharaddeep, Aseem Mukherjee, Anant Mishra, S.M. Arshad, and several others.
