BCCI has officially announced the Indian squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Afghanistan that will start from January 11. Rohit Sharm and Virat Kohli are returning to the Indian T20I side and Rohit will be leading the team. KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, Iyer, and Siraj have been rested for the series.
Surprisingly, Ishan Kishan has not been included in the squad either. He opted out of the South Africa series, reportedly due to mental fatigue. Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma are the two wicket-keeping options for the Men in Blue side.
All the speculations around Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli returning to the T20I side have come true. This also means that BCCI is likely considering both Virat and Rohit for the upcoming edition of the T20 World Cup 2024. he first T20I will be played in Mohali. Then both sides will fly to Indore for the second T20I and the series finale will be played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
The Afghanistan series is India’s last bilateral T20I series before the T20 World Cup, which starts on June 1.
