Ben Duckett’s record-breaking 141 and Sam Curran’s superb bowling helped England beat India in the decisive 3rd ODI and win the series.

London : England sealed the three-match ODI series 2-1 with a 27-run win over India in the third and final match at Lord’s on Sunday, powered by Ben Duckett’s record-breaking 141.

Duckett’s knock became the highest individual score in a men’s ODI at Lord’s, eclipsing Vivian Richards’ 138 for the West Indies in the 1979 World Cup final against England. Sam Curran delivered a match-winning, fabulous bowling performance in the decisive 3rd ODI against India at Lord’s, taking 4 wickets for 75 runs. His clever use of slower balls and timely breakthroughs in the death overs derailed India’s massive run-chase, securing a 27-run victory and the series for England.

Opener Ben Duckett made the biggest men’s ODI individual score at the Home of Cricket in striking 141 off 135 balls as the hosts posted 383-7, surpassing the previous mark of 334-4 by England against the same opponents in 1975.

Duckett shared an opening stand of 192 with Jacob Bethell, who fell for 91, before finally chipping a return catch to Prince Yadav in the 44th over after smacking 18 fours and a six.

Joe Root helped drive England to their formidable total, hitting an unbeaten 74 from 48 balls for his sixth consecutive score of 50 or more in ODIs, while Jos Buttler added a blistering unbeaten 41 off 13 deliveries late on.

In reply, Rohit Sharma blasted an equally stunning 138 to become the first India player to score an ODI hundred at the historic venue, but he was bowled by Bethell to flip the momentum at 2-260.

Virat Kohli had already picked up the baton after Shubman Gill’s 77 and scored fifty on what may be his final innings in England, but two wickets for Sam Curran in the 44th over on his way to 4-75 that tightened the screws on India.
