Lucknow: The Lucknow Shernees made a stunning start to the inaugural Lucknow Women’s Premier League, defeating the Rahimabad Royals by 10 wickets in the opening match at the SAGE Ground, located at the Gomti Riverfront. Chasing a modest target of 82 runs, the Shernees reached 85 without losing a wicket in 13.5 overs. Openers Anshu Tiwari and Vagisha Singh remained unbeaten throughout the chase, guiding their side to a comfortable victory. On the opening day of the Lucknow Women’s Premier League—held for the first time in the city’s cricketing history—the Lucknow Shernees delivered a spectacular performance, defeating the Rahimabad Royals by 10 wickets.Anshu Tiwari scored 34 off 40 balls, hitting five boundaries, while Vagisha Singh contributed an unbeaten 35 off 45 balls, including three fours and a six. The Shernees also benefited from 16 runs in extras. Earlier, Rahimabad Royals won the toss and opted to bat first. Openers Dhun Pimali and Tanishka Jaiswar got off to a cautious start before Jaiswar was dismissed LBW by Aarohi Singh for 10, with the score at 26.

The dismissal triggered a dramatic collapse. Katyani Pathak turned the game decisively in the Shernees’ favour, claiming three wickets in a single over—dismissing Srishti (4), Kajal Tamta (0) and Nishu Chaudhary (0). Rahimabad were eventually bowled out for 81 in 20 overs. Dhun Pimali top-scored for the Royals with a fighting 39 off 37 balls, including four fours and a six. Jayashree Yadav added 13 runs, while Tanishka Jaiswar made 10.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, the chief guest, formally inaugurated the league and encouraged the all participating players. Addressing the gathering, Pathak expressed pride that Lucknow is hosting a women’s cricket league for the first time. He said the tournament would provide the city’s daughters with a major platform to showcase their talent and performances, helping them pursue opportunities at the state and national levels and potentially earn a place in the Women’s Premier League.
