MCN News

Lucknow, Match no 9: The Noida Kings pulled off a sensational 3-wicket victory over the Gaur Gorakhpur Lions in Match 9 of the UP T20 League, chasing down 186 in a thrilling last-over finish at Ekana Cricket Stadium. The match was officially inaugurated by Dr. Raj Shekhar, Managing Director of Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam (Rural), Lucknow, who performed the traditional Bell Ringing Ceremony.

Opting to bat first, the Gaur Gorakhpur Lions made a strong start, with Abhay Pratap and captain Aryan Juyal putting together a 72-run opening partnership. Noida fought back with 2 quick wickets, dismissing Juyal and Shivam Chaudhary, but Abhay continued to dominate. He brought up a well-made half-century and top-scored with 70 off 41 balls. Siddharth then provided the Lions with further impetus, smashing a rapid 51 off 28 deliveries, while Parth Palawat added a useful cameo to take Gorakhpur Lion to 185/9. Bobby was the pick of the Noida bowlers, claiming an impressive 4/48. In reply, the Noida Kings endured an early setback, slipping to 46/3. Vasu Vats caused significant damage in the fourth over by taking 2 wickets, including the crucial dismissal of a top order batter, while impact player Abdul Rehman produced an outstanding catch.

Aditya and Ravi Singh steadied the innings with a valuable 70-run partnership. Aditya contributed 39, while Ravi kept the chase alive with a blistering 49 off just 28 balls. Their partnership was finally broken in the 15th over when Vishal Nishad dismissed Aditya. The pressure mounted further when Prince Yadav removed Prashant Veer for a golden duck in the following over, before Vasu Vats returned to claim his third wicket by dismissing the dangerous Ravi Singh. With 23 runs required from the final 12 balls, the match appeared to be slipping away from Noida. Abdul Rehman bowled an excellent penultimate over, conceding just five runs and leaving the Kings needing 18 from the final six deliveries. The final over began with Kartik Siddhu being run out off the first ball. But Anivesh Choudhary had other plans.

The young batter held his nerve under immense pressure, smashing back-to-back sixes to reduce the equation to six runs from three balls. A crucial two-run shot followed, leaving Noida needing four from two deliveries. Choudhary then produced the decisive blow, finding the boundary to seal a remarkable victory with one ball to spare. He remained unbeaten on a sensational 34 off just 15 balls, completing one of the most dramatic finishes of the tournament and guiding the Noida Kings to a memorable three-wicket win.
