Lucknow, UPT20 league 2026 – Match No 14 : Swastik Chikara’s sensational unbeaten 97 helped the Meerut Mavericks storm to a commanding nine-wicket victory over the Kanpur Superstars in Match 14 of Season 4 of the UP T20 League 2026. Chasing 143 at the Ekana International Cricket Stadium, the Mavericks reached their target in just 13.5 overs to register their 5th consecutive win. The result kept Meerut unbeaten and firmly at the top of the points table in this season, while Kanpur suffered their 4th defeat in five matches.
The fixture was officially inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh Transport Minister Shri Dayashankar Singh, who performed the traditional Bell Ringing Ceremony. UP T20 League Governing Council Chairman Dr. Sanjay Kapoor, UPCA Media Committee Chairman Mohammad Faheem ji and Director GM Tiwari were also present. After winning the toss, Meerut captain Rinku Singh opted to bowl. Kanpur made a brisk start as Adarsh Singh scored 45 off 36 balls and added 36 runs with Priyanshu Pandey. However, Vijay Kumar changed the momentum with 2 wickets during the powerplay in first inning.
Captain Sameer Rizvi, who scored 19, attempted to steady the innings alongside Adarsh, but Zeeshan Ansari dismissed him and triggered a period of dominance by the Meerut spinners. The bowlers strangled the scoring rate through the middle overs, producing an impressive 46-ball stretch without a boundary. A late assault from Yashovardhan Singh, who smashed 26 off 14 balls, helped Kanpur reach 142/8. Vijay Kumar and Zeeshan Ansari were the pick of the Meerut bowlers, claiming two wickets apiece for 26 and 30 runs respectively.
Meerut’s chase got off to a shaky start when Divyansh Joshi was dismissed early, but Kanpur found no further breakthroughs. Chikara took complete control, launching an explosive attack while Rituraj Sharma provided valuable support with a composed 35. Chikara produced a breathtaking display of power hitting, finishing unbeaten on 97 from just 46 deliveries. His innings featured nine boundaries and seven sixes, with three consecutive sixes bringing the match to a spectacular conclusion in the 14th over.
For his match-winning performance, Chikara was named Player of the Match, as the Meerut Mavericks continued their unbeaten run and strengthened their grip on the top spot.
